"What is Journalism?" You tell me expert

Currently doing the opposite of what miss calls 'coasting' and actually researching what Journalism involves, or more importantly what it actually means.
I mean I understand what it includes, the idea of print and social media, the internet, the transmission of news to the world.
Being able to feed society news about the happening around them.
I just watched a 1940's Vocational clip about Journalism, and what it offered in that time.
Just to establish how this career came about, I am so curious to understand why this was so different from being a writer.
The idea that you could officially communicate through telephones and transfer information to the news-room, then it was that person's responsibility to transcript whatever was reported to them, this was then the basic method of producing newspapers. Yep it fascinated me quiet a bit.
To be brutally honest I never wanted to be a Journalist, as a child I had this crazy idea of sitting in a doctors seat and helping patients. Then during my GCSE's I had a phase of wanting to be a calligrapher, that then changed to wanting to be a architect. All sorts of careers just bounced around my mind.
Now that I have reached the stage where university applications have become the life of me, I should really have set in stone a career in mind. For me that is now Journalism.
Enough of that now, I must get back to my Nth tab of research, initially I just wanted to re-write my personal statement, but then I thought about widening my knowledge about Journalism and reporting, just so that when it comes to writing I can infuse what I have learnt on paper.
I do believe I can write well, it's just a shame that when other people (my teachers) read my work, they can never understand why it 'doesn't make sense'. Well I know what I am on about so screw them.

Today I was told that according to my predicted grades and my current achievement I won't get the required grades for the university I want to go to; Westminister.

Yes keep gorping, I have had enough people telling me the practicality of things, how I could afford it, whether it's the right decision.

Me, I go with the flow, I hate planning too far ahead of myself because I believe there's always changes and therefore there is no point expecting too much is there?

Fair enough aim high, but don't get ahead of yourself then be disapointed.

Preaching over.

I must go and continue the 28946283 draft of my personal statement.

I hate the two words now, it's like metal symbols to my ears. "personal statement" go away.

I do hope this is done soon, I even prayed. Yes I am so desperate to get somewhere now.

Life man.
