Untouchable

Went to see Untouchable today, which happened to be a French film with sub-titles!

Yeah the idea of reading off the screen was a little hard at first, but to be honest I forgot the more I got into it.

Basically about a black guy wanting a third disapproval from a job vacancy, the idea that he needed 3 businesses to turn him down to claim benefits in order to support his family of many children at home.

On his third interview, we find that he is in a rather antique french house with all these paintings of white 'important' people on the wall and red velvet touched chairs etc.

Anyhow, with his casual manner he storms in and says all he wants is a signature to prove he went to the interview and they turned him down. However, the employer (which you find is handicapped  is amused by his character and this is how their friendship began.

From my perspective,

  • i think it presented how someone of such higher status have the capacity to accept someone lower perhaps
  • the idea that being handicapped didn't prevent this guy to be so rich and successful
  • how poverty is real issue that could be prevented by the rich
  • based on a true story it highlighted the reality of lives today
  •  barriers in life just make you that much stronger
  • prevail of racial acceptance
  • You can't underestimate what people can do
  • don't think to far ahead... they could be gay
Anyhow, I don't really know what made me want to comment on a film, just made me think.

I Totally recommend it.

Media BTEC my foot

Now for those of you who aren't aware what a BTEC is, well let me put it to you...

it is a qualification designed to enhance the academia of idiotic people who don't have the patience for A-levels.

Yes fair enough for those working class average students it is a whole lot easier, as the grade is determined by the quality of your coursework, but check this out..

right now I'd rather sit in a surprise English mock exam and fail, than sit here and fill in stupid amounts of sheets that complete a booklet of utter nonsense, ready for me to comment on crime dramas today.

I'll probably sit here and make up a crime drama on the spot regardless of copyright and other sentimental bullshit that you may decide to pick up on, however my point is I don't want to do it, simply because it's totally undermining my intelligence and downgrading the teachers too.

I am sure commenting on the demographic content on a typical crime drama isn't going to give me the power of making pigs fly, it could... but it doesn't I'm afraid.

Makes me so annoyed that I can sit here spending endless hand movement writing so much shit, excuse my french, because quite frankly (the Alevel teachers can back me up on this one) I could be sat here making pretty mind maps for revision or indulging in love texts for English. I don't need the insight of media to understand it, I know how the Media works, its all lies ready fro the consumer to do his thing and engulf itself with whatever is being said around them.

That's mainly the reason why I want to work for the media as a Journalist, because it wouldn't matter whether what I was saying was right or wrong, or true, at the end of the day you will always read what you see or listen to what people are talking about regardless of it's true validity.

Anyway this time could have been spent on defining key terms such as "Hammocking" but right now I'd rather burn the booklet and swallow the ashes than to laugh at how stupid all this is.

But yes folks, don't do BTEC's, they are...well absolute garbage.
